The Various Interests group of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) will organise a conference entitled “LET’S SPEAK HAPPINESS – Beyond GDP” on 10 June 2014. The event will take place at the European Economic and Social Committee, rue Belliard 99, 1040 Brussels.
The objective of the conference is to debate indicators on well-being and social progress in the context of transition to an alternative mode of growth. The conference will provide the opportunity to reflect on how to define and measure the well-being of European citizens and the sustainability of their lifestyles. The event also aims to provide an overview of work done on this topic. It is hoped that research and the field experience of stakeholders will demonstrate the importance and urgency of reconsidering wealth indicators as a means of reframing the current debate on economic policy.
The draft agenda of this conference is attached; for further information, please visit the conference website.
