Hi guys, here’s something that I thought might interest you:
Tristram Stuart is coming to campus in two weeks (27/11) to talk about food waste and great solutions to fight it.
Tristram Stuart is the winner of the international environmental award, The Sophie Prize 2011, for his fight against food waste. Tristram has become a renowned campaigner, working in several countries to help improve the environmental and social impact of food production. His latest international prize-winning book ‘Waste: Uncovering the Global Food Scandal’ revealed that Western countries waste up to half of their food, and that tackling this problem is one of the simplest ways of reducing pressure on the environment and on global food supplies.
Tristram is also organising The Pig Idea, which revamps the Feeding the 5k project, this time by feeding 5000 people in Trafalgar Square on the 21st November 2013 with pork reared “on a healthy diet of spent brewer’s grains, whey, unsold fruit and veg and okara (a tofu byproduct) – all food which would otherwise have been composted or sent to landfill”.
I’ve seen him talk twice already and he is a great speaker but he is also really good at making things happen.
Come along (and remember to register)!
See you there,
